ABOUT US

The Christian music genre originated in worship services through church gospels and hymnal singing. In the late 1960s, Christian music began to evolve. Contemporary Christian music, as it is featured today, began as gospel beat music in the UK when street musicians of the late 1960s and early 1970s converted to Christianity. The musicians continued to play the same style of music as before, but began to write their songs with a Christian message. Since then, Christian music has spanned over all music genres, including rock, metal, rap, country, gospel, urban gospel and pop. With its ever-growing popularity, today's Christians can find their favorite hits on the radio, TV, in concert halls, and at music festivals. From the pioneers of Christian alternative rock such as Larry Norman, Marsha Stevens, and Chuck Girard to the newer sounds of Relient K, Casting Crowns, and Jeremy Camp, the face of Christian music has been forever changed by artists who keep reaching out to fellow Christians to show that while the world may change, God is always there.
Fun Fact: One of the earliest forms of worship music in the church was the Gregorian chant. Pope Gregory I was acknowledged as the first person to order for music in the church, creating the “Gregorian” chant moniker.
